About
The Team
The team behind MyGiftster.com is made up of creative, practical types that love to see technology serve people rather than the other way around.
We hope this service serves you as well as it has us in our groups and families over the past couple of years that we’ve been test driving it.
If you think we hit a home run on a feature, or really blew something, could you take a moment and tell me about it using feedback@mygiftster.com?
I get the job of being called the president of MyGiftster.com, but others have played more important roles than I have. They’re just shy and won’t let me tell you about them.
We do have another popular online business, totally unrelated, yet it serves up great technology in a friendly way. ZapTel.com is an online phone card store, and MyGiftster is brought to you by some of the same folks as ZapTel. In fact, since I’m tight with them, I got you a coupon code for 6% off any purchase here.
And one more tip, we have another store where you can buy silicon rubber wristbands, car magnets and other items to express your support for causes you care about most, at www.supportstore.com, such as breast cancer, leukemia awareness and more.
How can MyGiftster be a free service?
I’d give you a coupon for a discount at MyGiftster.com, but then that wouldn’t make much sense, since it’s free already! Whenever I hear of a “free” service, I always wonder “ok but how do they make money?”
I have a sign hanging in my workshop: THIS IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION. IT WASN’T MEANT TO BE, IT JUST TURNED OUT THAT WAY.
MyGiftster is meant to make a profit. But not by charging the members. We want to provide advertising on the site that is so relevant to your lists that it adds value to your experience. You’ll see us get better and better at that over time.
The Big Idea
Personally, I have a passion to help people steward their resources wisely both their time and money. I’ve done some budget counseling for others, I’ve had to manage my own family budget, and almost always the money spent on gift giving is what blows the budget.
My hope, and that of our team, is that MyGiftster will provide a simple, practical tool for entire families to capture the joy of thoughtful gift giving, but without the anxiety, the wasted time and money, and clutter that results from giving and getting gifts that miss the mark.
I didn’t think this tool was a big deal the first time I was exposed to the concept. But once our whole family participated, it has become a part of the fabric of our lives around any gift giving occasion. I encourage you to be the one to champion this for your family. I promise you it will be popular and your family will give and get gifts that matter most from here on out.
