Does MyGiftster cost anything?
Nope. MyGiftster is an absolutely free service. If you’d like to pay us anyway, arrangements can be made.

Do I have to register to use MyGiftster?
No. You can create individual lists from the home page that you can use and e-mail the link to that list for others to view and print.

What do I get if I register?
Registering gives you the simplicity of managing your gift giving. You can create groups, set up an events calendar, read lists from others in your group, and build your shopping list.

Is my information safe?
Yes. MyGiftster does not sell, rent, or loan any identifiable information regarding its users to any third party. Any information you give us is held in strict confidence and security. We will not use it in any way without your consent.

Is MyGiftster safe for my kids to use?
Yes. It’s safe to use for all ages - 8 to 88 and beyond. The only people who can create lists or events that your kids can view are those included in your group.

Can this be used by others not in the United States?
Yes. You can use MyGiftster to share your gift lists with friends and loved ones around the world. They just need an Internet connection.

Is this something I can use all year and for any occasion?
Absolutely! It’s not just for birthdays and holidays. Any day you feel like giving a gift is a day when you should use MyGiftster.

How can I manage items on my list?
To add an item, just click on the Add Item button at the top of your list, fill in the fields you’d like to display, and press save. To change that item, just click on it. Those same fields will come back up and you can add or subtract information, or remove the item all together if you’d like.

Can I make more than one list for myself?
Sure. Why not? It’s a great way to keep track of things if you have many things to list. For example, one list can be cooking items you’d like while another could be books.

Can I add a cash gift or gift card as an item on my list?
Yes. Who doesn’t love money or gift cards? You can tell others what stores you like most so if they don’t have time for shopping they can give you a gift card instead. You can also list a charity that you like so if someone would like to make a donation in your name, they’ll know which one you’d like to support.

How can I add an item someone else has on their list to my list because I'd like it, too?
If you’re looking at Aunt Susie’s list and see that you, too, would like that same nifty vegetable steamer, just click on the star next to the item and MyGiftster will add it to your list.

How can I tell others what things I'd like most on my list?
If it’s on your list, you’d obviously like to have it, but we all know there are some things we’d be more excited to get than others. You can rank the items on your list from 1 to 5 stars, 1 meaning you’d like to have it and 5 meaning you’ll jump up and down and do cartwheels when you open it. Click on the stars to set the number you want “lit up.”

How can I tell people where to find items on my list?
Here’s one of the greatest features of MyGiftster. Your gift can be found anywhere and you can still put it on your list. If it can be found online you can give the gift givers a web address to find it. If there’s a regular brick-and-mortar store, there’s a place for that, too.

Can I start lists for others in my family?
Yes. Since you’re able to have multiple lists, you can have one for every person in your family. If you have a family member who isn’t as into the internet as you are, you can set them up with their own account, include them in your group, and set their account up so the first page they see is either their list or the lists of others in your group. Just click on Settings under the paperclip to choose your account’s default login page.

How can I share my list with others?
For those in your group, all they have to do is press the Browse and Reserve Gifts button and choose your name to see your list. If you’d like to send your list by e-mail, just click the Email List link when viewing your list to send your list to whomever you’d like.

Inviting Others & My Groups

How can I invite others to my group?
Once you’ve created a group, you can invite others to join your group and view your lists. Enter the name and e-mail address of the person, press save, and MyGiftster sends an email invitation to that person. If you’d like others to buy you neat things, we recommend that you invite these people to your group and exchange lists.

How do I view the lists of others in my group?
If you’re the gift giver, making your shopping list starts with viewing the lists of the other members of your group. Click on Browse and Reserve Gifts to see the lists of others in your group and start making your shopping list.

How can I join a group?
You’ve done a group search and you see that your sister has created a group for her family. Click on the Request Membership link next to your search results. MyGiftster sends an email request to the group creator for their approval.

Can I join more than one group?
As long as people approve you into their groups, you may join as many as you’d like. But remember – it may cause your shopping list to increase!

How do I remove someone from my group?
When viewing a group you’ve created, simply click on the Remove link next to the name of the person you’d like to remove from your group.

Browsing and Reserving Gifts

How will I know what someone would like the most?
You can rank your items with 1 to 5 stars. If you’re looking to hit one out of the park with a gift that will make the recipient squeal with excitement, give a 5 star gift.

How can I tell if a gift has been purchased for someone?
Each item has a status next to it. If an item is showing a quantity available, then no one has purchased that gift which makes it available for you to add to your shopping list.

How can I make sure that someone else doesn't purchase a gift I have already bought for a person in my group?
If you plan to shop for a gift on someone’s list, click the lock icon next to the item. This will lock it in for you to purchase. If you decide to not purchase that item, you can unlock it by clicking the lock again so it will become available for others to add to their lists. Don’t worry – the recipient can’t see this information so they won’t know what you’ve bought.

How can I print a list of items I've reserved to purchase?
You’ve made your list and now you’re ready to shop! Just click Print My Shopping List and you can print everything on one page complete with the person’s name, the price of the item, and where you can find it. Now all you need are your shopping shoes and you’re ready to go.

My Events

How do I add events to my calendar?
After you log into your account, click on My Events. Click on Add Event to add a special occasion to your list. Birthdays, anniversaries, wedding days, and more are all special days to add to remind people of upcoming special events.

How do I see events from others in my group?
Never forget a birthday or special occasion in your family again. While in My Events, click on Group Events to see all upcoming occasions for your family and friends.
